Why do I need a fire suppression system?

Security is what every builder wants. Knowing your vessel is protected from the hazards of fire in the engine compartment gives the boater peace of mind. When you feel secure, you can enjoy the most from your investment.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How do I determine which model size?
Selecting the proper model size:

Determine the volume of the area to be protected by measuring length x width x height. Do not deduct for engines, removable tanks, or other equipment. Never install a unit with a volume rating less than the gross volume of the compartment to be protected.

For systems less than 1500 cu ft see Sea-Fire’s Pre-Engineered products.

Over 1500 cuft (42.5m), a custom engine system is required. Complete the Design Guide and send it to Sea-Fire for a detailed proposal.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can I use more than one extinguishing cylinder
to protect the same engine compartment?

Pre-engineered systems (FD, FG, MD, MG, FE, and FH) models are independent systems. One cylinder (system) must be capable of protecting the total volume of the area to be protected. (A back-up system may be utilized, but it too must be sufficiently sized to protect the total area. Engineered systems (H series, over 1500 cu ft) are custom designed and typically use more than one system.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is FM-200?

FM-200 is heptafluropropane a HFC. That is a gaseous chemical extinguishing agent used to protect high- value assets like pleasure craft boats and yachts and the people on the vessels.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Which system is the safest?

FM-200 is the safest for people, planet and equipment. It is the best solution for clean fire systems.

Which system can be used internationally?

Sea-Fire’s FG & FD, C Series, MD, MG & Stinger models, plus H series engineered systems containing the fire suppression agent FM-200 may be used internationally.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are the systems rechargeable/refillable?

The following models are refillable/rechargeable:

FE model series 325- 1500
FH model series 600- 1000
FD model series 150 – 1500
