Sea-Fire participates in stream cleanup.
Project Clean Stream is a Chesapeake Bay-wide stream and woodland cleanup event where over a hundred thousand volunteers from all six Chesapeake Bay states choose a stream to pick up trash. This year, Sea-Fire approached the coordinating organization, the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, and asked to host a cleanup site just down the street from the main office in Baltimore.
The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and partnering watershed organizations have been organizing Project Clean Stream for 8 years. In 2010, more than 3,600 volunteers turned out at 140 cleanup sites to remove an estimated 118,000 pounds of trash and debris from streams and wooded areas.

Sea-Fire's cleanup site is a portion of White Marsh Run that flows just behind a corporate center. Sea-Fire employees will meet in the east side of the center's parking lot at 9:00 on April 2nd. Any other non-employees are more than welcome to join Sea-Fire at their site in this excellent community service activity.
Trash isn't the largest threat to the Chesapeake Bay, but it is definitely the easiest to fix. When litter is left in a parking lot, it doesn't end up in a landfill or treatment facility. Wind or stormwater carry the garbage into stormdrains where it ends up in small streams, such as White Marsh Run. The trash then flows down the stream and eventually empties into the Chesapeake Bay, where it is visually degrading and can damage easily wildlife. Sea-Fire understands it's role as citizen of the Chesapeake Bay region and is constantly working to promote and ensure a cleaner and safer environment.

SEA-FIRE
PARTICIPATES IN PRESIDENTIAL ROUNDTABLE

Ernie
Ellis, president of Sea-Fire Marine, participated in a roundtable
discussion hosted by President George W. Bush on October 6.
It was held at the FedEx Express DCA facility in Washington,
D.C. The event included U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Henry
Paulson, and Assistant to the President for Economic Policy,
Al Hubbard, along with several other business leaders representing
small to mid-size growth industries throughout the region. Distinguished
by their success in international trade, the attending entrepreneurs
were issued special invitations from the White House. Each was
given an opportunity to review their company history and respond
to questions from the President. The focus of the discussion
was jobs and the economy, with emphasis on the entrepreneurial
spirit and global commerce. "We have just met with a handful
of small business owners, business creators, people who had
an innovative idea, followed up on their idea and have now built
healthy little businesses that are growing and employing people,"
said President Bush. Ellis outlined Sea-Fire's history, their
international presence and recent expansion into the Pacific
Asia market. He also expressed an interest in the current administration
relaxing regulations and opening up the market with China. In
2004, Sea-Fire received the Presidential E-Award for excellence
in exporting. The most distinguished honor bestowed by the federal
government in recognition of an American exporting company,
this award commends competitive achievements in world markets,
and specifically Sea-Fire's part in increasing U.S. exports
abroad. "I was honored to have the opportunity to meet
and discuss my company with the President," said Ellis.
"It was a most rewarding experience to sit around the table
with several other businesses and communicate our views."
To conclude the discussion, the President shared good news about
the economy and spoke about the government's role in facilitating
business expansion into foreign markets. "One of the jobs
of government is to make sure the entrepreneurial spirit is
strong, creating an environment that encourages entrepreneurship,
which means low taxes, less regulation, rational spending at
the government level [and] opening markets overseas so that
the entrepreneur can trade," said President Bush. With
over 30 years experience, Sea-Fire is a world leader in marine
fire suppression technology. Sea-Fire's FM-200 fire extinguishers
and suppression systems are recognized worldwide for their innovation
and quality, providing cost-effective fire protection for craft
ranging from PWCs to megayachts.
